I've been walking and slow jogging for the last 2 months. Making steady progress but the balls of my feet are sore. First I developed a blister in the center of the ball which was very painful. Now my feet are just sore in the ball area.

Are there any creams or medicines or bandages you can put on the ball of the feet to heal or ease the pain.

you can try a nice gel insole to help cushion the impact on your feet when your running. Ive shattered 1 ankle and fractured the other, so im always in pain if i go out walkign or jogging, but gel soles or wraps can help

I'm down 30 lbs, 280 from 310. I was 6'5" in my twenties. Working out consistantly for 2.5 months. 6 days of walking, slow jogging. 1 day of weight lifting, chest and arms, (1 to 1.5 hours of steady lifting). I'm loving my routine. This has been a total lifestyle change after 15 years of gaining weight and no excersing.

I live by a great Lake, 2 mile walking, biking, blading track around the lake. Lake also has a park, picnic areas, clubhouse, small beach, sail boats, canoes, kayays to rent. I've been walking, some jogging 6 laps per day in the blazing heat (soaking up the sun). Life is good but I may have over done it because my feet are sore. The soles of my feet get hot. A runner gave my good advice and said to walk on the grass part instead of the track. It made sense the grass surface is cooler than the track surface.

Anyway I believe I'll be able to work thru the foot soreness. I'm feeling stronger and fitter. The girth of my gut has diminished and my feet are improving. I must be careful. If a freck'n blister and sore soles are my worst injuries during this comeback, than I feel sorry for World Number One !

keep it up brother!! out doing my road work daily myself...sounds like you have a "nice" regimen going...when you are coming down in weight, sometimes the joints take a little longer to adjust from the pounds (just flat out not used 2 it)...stay at it...peace!

make sure you have a good pair of running shoes

Thanks JohnnyMac and Billy for the support. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I do use good running shoes. Just ordered a pair of Ascis Gel Evolution 5. Ordered from Roadrunner sports.

I think my sore feet "soles and ball of foot" may be caused by friction and not the pounding of the pavement. I'm not sure but I think the rubbing of my feet with the socks may be creating friction and heat. Who knows?

Should the soreness arise again, try wrapping your feet with the sportswrap. Shit works wonders, not only that but you'll feel different running because the support it gives on your ankles; makes you feel strong and will probably jog a longer distance to boot. Foot and Ankle wrap though, just like the football players get. Feet will feel way better and all that support down there with your heavy weight you will feel the difference. It'll be like night and day.

P.S. Don't do the lazy way out and do those pull over ankle wraps either, not the same. I repeat, not the same.

use body glide on your feet. it will eliminate the friction. great for nipples and balls as well. roadrunner sports sells it.

Hehate and Donkey,

Sounds like great advice from both of you. I going to try it. I have tried using a Caluos cushion. It's and circular cushion type adhesive with a donut hole. It helps.

The body glide sounds good.

Donkey,
With the sports wraps, don't you need practice wrapping the feet. Please explain more about the sportswrap for your feet. Does tape go over the wrap?

Just ordered some body glide along with 2 new pairs of Gel Evolution -5. Also trying double layered sock called the wright sock.

Still going strong. Down 32 lbs to 278. Still hope to lose another 40-50 pounds. Yesterday with my new socks and shoes I jogged 4 miles in the extreme humidity and heat here in the burbs of Chicago. Jogged intervals of 1.5 miles, 1.5miles, and 1 mile. In between joggs I walked .5 miles. All toghether I walked and jogged 7 miles over a 2.25 hour span.

Feet still get sore, still have blister/callous in same spot but new shoes and socks make a world of difference. I've also been pouring baby powder on my feet before walking and jogging.
